C8 'pink slip'

There is currently one 'Vette C8 model in the collection, and almost all the other generations are represented by two models .... Time to remedy that glaring hole in the collection!

But that turned out to be easier said than done, as all I came across were the exact same model in different colours, and that wasn't what I wanted ....

Until I stumbled across a C8 model on Amazon US, which had the extra moniker 'pink slip'. I had no idea what that meant, but Google is your friend! So a pink slip is basically the piece of paper that shows you are a car's registered owner. And, in car racing terms, a 'pink slip' race is a race where you lose your car if you lose the race ...

So here's the 'pink slip' C8 Corvette, fittingly showing some pink!

This is unlikely to be the final addition to the Corvette collection ...

Late C3 Stingray

I've got an early C3 Stingray (from 1970) in the collection, but the model saw some changes in the 14 years it was in production  (1968 to 1982), so I kept my eye out for a late model of the C3.

And I found it in the end, a 1979 model!

Funny enough, the seller lived a few streets away, so he dropped it off and I saved on postage costs (and risks).

C5 coupe

A Corvette C5 cabrio is already in the collection, but not a coupe ...

You know what happens next, right? C5 coupe in bright green!

Colour that isn't yet represented and that for only a tenner!

C7 cabrio

 The C7 Corvette currently in the collection is a coupe, so, clearly, there is space for a cabrio!

Took some time to find a cabrio model of a C7, but in the end I found one on eBay.

Collection is getting closer and closer to about two models per generation, isn't it?

'67 C2 Sting Ray

Second generation Corvettes, the first of the Sting Rays, were produced from 1963 to 1967. I already have a model of a '63 C2, so appropriate to add a model of the final year, 1967, to the collection

And it's a roadster, and it's red (had to be!)

If I had to pick my favourite 'Vette model, it would almost surely be a C2 Sting Ray ...

C6.R

Corvette were and are, of course, also used in racing, and here is a picture of a such a race car, based on the C6, the C6.R:

Needless to say I was keen to add a race 'Vette to the collection; here is my C6.R model.

Looks like Corvette generations will be represented by at least two models, doesn't it?

A second C4

The C4 Corvette model I have in the collection is a cabrio, and regularly appearing on eBay are 1:24 models of C4 coupes ...

Some C4 'Vette coupes had a sunroof, and that's what the model I got has.

I did say the collection wouldn't remain at one from each generation ...
